Taunton was also home to several other textile mills and industrial factories, which attracted immigrants from other New England towns as well as Western Europe and Ireland who established communities and neighborhoods, many of which endure to this day. Throughout the nineteenth century, Taunton was a significant shipping point for shipment to the rest of the nation via the River.
