In the early parts of the twentieth century, San Jose was home to a thriving economy spurred on by advancements in aviation. The local economy had remained primarily agricultural, though on a large scale, not individual plots of land, and improvements in canning and food preservation attracted immigrants from Southeast Asia as well as Ireland and Western Europe.
By the latter portions of the nineteenth century, the Santa Clara Valley was among the world's most productive agricultural areas. This map contains interesting historical details and includes land ownership records. Its crisp, distinctive style and unique aesthetic immediately transports the viewer back in time, creating an indelible bond between the past and present.
