Produced and illustrated by native Montanan Irvin ‘Shorty’ Shope, this pictorial map shows the iconic state in a period of significant growth, transformation, and prosperity. Shope was a founding member of the Cowboy Artists of America and was a ranch hand and cattle driver before becoming a commercial artist in 1935. This depiction illustrates the major economic drivers for Montana in the margins, including trapping, mining, cattle and sheep ranches, and lumber harvesting and milling. This stunning piece also includes the most famous national park, Yellowstone.
