Not only for his talent on the baseball field but for his use of non-violence and political advocacy during the Civil Rights movement while also opening the door to desegregation in schools, other professional sports, and numerous other fields. Robinson began his professional career playing first base for the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947 and would go on to receive numerous accolades during his illustrious career, including Rookie of the Year, six consecutive All-Star seasons, Most Valuable Player, and he would play in six World Series with a win in 1955.
Robinson's contributions on and off the field continue to inspire people across the globe, and this iconic photograph of him in the prime of his professional baseball career captures the essence of his remarkable demeanor and poise.
