Additional Information
Dating to 1994, this panorama spans Denali National Park, Alaska, the great mountain mantled in snow at its center. Glaciers spill from the upper slopes toward the tundra, while ridge behind ridge of the Alaska Range fades into a pale, hazy distance.
Heinrich Berann, the Austrian master who all but invented the modern panorama, chose this as his final park commission. He brought his trademark drama to it, lifting the summit beyond nature and widening the land so the eye can roam each glacier, icefield, and snowfield.
Denali climbs higher than any other summit in North America, and the park around it shelters a roadless wilderness of ice, braided rivers, and tundra. Caribou, grizzly, and Dall sheep drift through the backcountry, far from the nearest road, in a lonely land where almost no one ever goes.
This map stands as a testament to the pristine spectacle of Denali, offering a window into the park as only Berann could imagine it. Among the most glorious of the national park panoramas, it lends a radiant, dreamlike mood to any living room, office, or study.
