Manufacturing flourished across the Northeast, supplying domestic and international markets, with Turners Falls benefiting from its strategic location on the Connecticut River.
This map highlights Turners Falls' meticulous urban planning, with its grid-based streets designed by Alvah Crocker, a businessman from Fitchburg, MA. Crocker envisioned a thriving industrial center, constructing a dam to generate hydroelectric power, securing the town's long-term success.
Bailey's five-decade career produced some of the most detailed panoramic maps, and his distinctive style offers a historical snapshot of the town's evolution.
