Additional Information
William Jefferson Clinton served as the 42nd President of the United States of America from 1993 to 2001, following an illustrious political career in his home state of Arkansas, where he served as Governor before accepting the Democratic nomination and defeating George H.W. Bush in the 1992 election. Clinton was born and raised in Arkansas before attending Yale Law School, where he would meet his future wife, Hillary Rodham, who ran for presidential office in 2016 but lost to businessman and public figure Donald Trump. Clinton became known for his centrist political ideology, blending liberal social views with conservative fiscal ideas to create a so-called New Democrat, a stance that gained popularity in the early nineties among the American Middle Class.
After graduating from law school, Clinton returned to Arkansas, where he was elected as state attorney general before becoming the governor and ultimately president. As governor, Clinton overhauled the state's education system and became the chairman of the National Governors Association. Clinton also notably became the first President born in the Baby Boomer generation, and he presided over the most extended peacetime period of economic development in American history. Clinton left office in 2001 with the highest joint ranking for any president representing either party and remains a popular political figure. This presidential portrait captures Clinton at the height of his political power and bears a distinct aesthetic and classic style that illustrate his integrity.
