Produced a period of significant transformation and growth in not only the region but the state of Texas as well as the entire nation as the country continued to evolve in the years following the conclusion of the American Civil War as towns and cities across the United States continued to grow and new communities were created, many of which exist to this day. Rockwall and counties lie east of Dallas, Texas, and were thriving agricultural and mining hubs during this period before the expansion of the vast oil fields of Oklahoma and West Texas, which brought considerable economic opportunity to the area in the years leading up to the turn of the century as the nation experienced great prosperity during the so-called Gilded Age.
