Honduras gained independence from Spain in 1821 and experienced a significant period of transformation during the following century and a half before the publication of this map detailing its rail lines to offer insight into the transnational transportation infrastructure that would shape and influence the movement of agricultural goods across the nation to allow for export to international markets.
